THE FAOPS 2004 LOGO
The Federation of Asia and Oceania
Perinatal Societies meets in Malaysia in 2004. The diversity and multi-faceted background
of our individual national societies are represented in the multi-color rectangular blocks
spelling out the acronym of our gathering together - "FAOPS 2004".
The stylised white heart-shaped icon embodies the heart of the matter, as it were, of our
individual and collective Perinatal Societies. The embracing mother and baby drawn in
elegant and smooth curves depicts tender, loving care and bonding.
And yet, on the other hand, this heart-shaped icon is a stylised transposition of the host
society logo of mother and child!
And as the host society welcomes delegates to Malaysia, the national hibiscus flower is
depicted with stylised red petals, style and stigma.
The logo incorporates the internet presence of the congress and the acculturation towards
the use of technology in perinatal care.
Background on the Malaysian Hibiscus Flower
The national flower of Malaysia - the host country, is the hibiscus (Rosa Sinensis), or as
it is locally known the Bunga Raya. The Bunga Raya is found in abundance throughout the
country, and has many varieties and colours. Malaysians, however, have chosen the red
five-petalled type as their national flower. In the FAOPS logo, this flower is depicted
with stylised petals, style and three stigmas.
Colors used:
White: purity, integrity, professionalism
Red: blood-life
Three red dots: human wholeness in body, soul and spirit
Multi-colored rectangles: multi-national
