| Free Communications
The Organising Committee encourages submission of abstracts for consideration for free communication presentation at FAOPS 2004.
This could be in the form of (a) Oral or (b) Poster presentation.

Guidelines for submission of Abstracts
- No limit is imposed on the number of abstracts submitted by individuals.
- Abstracts are to be submitted in English only.
- Abstracts are to be accompanied by payment of registration fees. If abstract is subsequently not accepted for presentation, the registration fee will be refunded to the author in accordance with the cancellation policy.
- Scheduling details and guidelines for final preparation of accepted posters will be included with the notification of acceptance.
- The final selection will be the responsibility of the Organisers.
Oral presentation
The scheduled time for each presentation will be 10 minutes followed by 2 minutes discussion period. During the free paper presentation,
LCD for power-point projections and 35mm slide projectors will be available. The speakers must notify the organiser of their audio-visual needs in his submission of the abstract and he will be informed accordingly if his needs can be met. The slide preview room is situated at 'ISIS', a function room on the 1st floor of the Convention Centre and all presentations must be handed to the technician on duty at least 2 hours before the presentation.
Poster presentation
Poster must be mounted on the assigned board at a specified time which will be notified in the letter of acceptance of abstract. Exact details of the poster preparation and time allocated for presentation and interaction will be informed.
Young Investigator's Award
This is in recognition of outstanding original work by young health workers in the field of perinatology in the Asia and Oceania region by the FAOPS. It consists of an honorarium of US1000 and a certificate of merit.

The award is given to the person who presents the best free paper at the FAOPS 2004 Congress.

The competition is opened to all doctors and other health care workers below the age of 40 as of 1st January 2004 and originating from one of the countries in the region.

Only original work not previously presented or published will be considered.

The work must have been carried out in member countries of Asia and Oceania.

A panel of judges will be appointed by the organisers.

The organising committee shall preselect and shortlist six entries from the free papers submitted and authors of these six papers will notified and asked to submit their full papers to be further evaluated by the panel of judges. A final judging will be made at the oral presentation for the 'Young Investigator's Award' and the decision will be forwarded to the FAOPS Council for approval.

Each author is given 12 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes for discussion during this 'Young Investigator's Award' session.

In the event that no entry of sufficient merit is received, the panel of judges may recommend to the Council that no award be made.

The FAOPS Council reserves the right to request the winner to make a special presentation, should the need arise and to reprint the winning entry in any publication or post it on the FAOPS web-site as the Council so desires.
